About the Program

A Web-based Education Campaign for Marine Debris Awareness & Prevention for NOAA’s Marine Debris Program

Nationwide; 2006

A web-based education campaign for the NOAA Marine Debris Program (MDP) is being developed and focuses on the production of an extensive set of base educational materials and products related to marine debris awareness and prevention. These electronic tools will be housed on the NOAA MDP web site. An interactive, web interface is being developed for theNOAA MDP web site to assist browsers in reviewing and selecting information to download, including a tracking mechanism for web queries and an online questionnaire to help NOAA define future education and outreach needs.

The types of materials/products identified for development include:  brochures, fact sheets, posters, booklets/manuals, curriculum aids (teacher guides & student activity sheets), informational placards, PowerPoint presentations, NOAA video clips and a campaign CD-ROM.

The targeted users for these materials will include NOAA’s offices and personnel, traditional and nontraditional educators, state/federal resource agency managers, and business and industry groups.

This program is funded through NOAA's Ocean Service, Office of Response & Restoration, Marine Debris Program.
