Gulf of Mexico Marine Debris Project
Submerged marine debris from hurricanes Katrina and Rita posed a hazard to vessel traffic and can adversely affect commercially viable fishing grounds. To address the submerged debris problem, surveys were conducted, data was compiled and disseminated, marine debris risk assessments were conducted as well as outreach activities specific to this project.
