International Coastal Cleanup 2005

NOAA Teams gathered together on Saturday, September 17, 2005 to clean up shorelines across the nation for the International Coastal Cleanup/NOAA Cleanup Day.

Fifty-five NOAA staff, their families and friends gathered to participate in the Washington D.C. International Coastal Cleanup/NOAA Cleanup Day. The site for this clean-up was along the Anacostia River at Anacostia Park. The team cleared away over 840 pounds/ 60 bags of trash, including such items as an automobile tire, clothing, car parts, plastics and other miscellaneous trash.

In Hawaii, NOAA staff, their family and friends came out to clear Oahu's south-eastern Makapu'u coast of marine debris.
