Derelict fishing gear collected and disposed through the Fishing for Energy Program. The program is a partnership between Covanta Energy, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, the NOAA Marine Debris Program, and Schnitzer Steel. The program provides cost-free derelict gear disposal at ports around the country. Collected gear is burned to create energy at Covanta Energy facilities or recycled through Schnitzer Steel.
