This document is a compilation of summary reports highlighting nine successful marine debris prevention projects and activities in the Republic of Korea and United States. These summary reports were prepared and shared during the Marine Debris Abatement Workshop: Strategies and Activities for the Prevention of Nearshore Marine Debris held on August 12‐13, 2009 in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. The Marine Debris Abatement Workshop was the culmination of a 2009 joint marine debris partnership project between the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Land, Transport, and Maritime Affairs and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Marine Debris Program in the U.S. Morishige, C.
