Marine debris on the shoreline of Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary: An assessment of behaviors contributing to marine debris, categories & composition, spatial distribution, and predictor variables

With support from the NOAA Marine Debris Program, the NOAA Office of National Marine Sanctuaries Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary (MBNMS), in collaboration with California Marine Sanctuary Foundation, utilized citizen science and partnerships to identify the prevalent types of marine debris and their distribution along the shoreline of MBNMS. This detailed report analyzes the findings to assess potential sources and transport mechanisms for marine debris within the sanctuary.
