The 2024 Hawai‘i Marine Debris Action Plan is the first 2-year update to the 2021-2031 Action Plan. In August of 2023, 23 organizations gathered together to discuss goals and actions to tackle the complex and continuously evolving problem of marine debris. The 2024 update resulted in removing the Ocean-Based Marine Debris Goal and consolidating actions to create a more approachable format. The Action Plan establishes a comprehensive framework for strategic action to help reduce the impacts of marine debris on Hawai‘i and its coasts, people, and wildlife.
